Budweiser Index EBF Maiden 2011 (1m 4f) - Bass wins thriller to beat Harangue
Dermot Weld had to settle for second place for once as Noel Meade's Sam Bass battled to success in the Budweiser Index EBF Maiden.
Turning for home Sam Bass and eventual third Monte Carlo were doing battle up front, before Pat Smullen aboard Harangue came to challenge and the trio went all out for victory. Nevertheless, Willie Supple aboard Sam Bass managed to get his mount in front on the line to win by a short head at 10/3.

The Aidan O'Brien trained Viceroy Of india upset the punters applecart by winning this maiden in pulsating style from red hot favourite, Sublime Talent. Ridden brilliantly by Johnny Murtagh Viceroy Of India took up the running from the start and was never headed, despite a huge challenge from the favourite at the end. It was the second winner of the week fat the Festival or the Ballydoyle team who are proving that they are in great form. Third was outsider, La Soie.
