Guinness Handicap 2011 (1m 4f) - Glen bags victory in tight finish

Clare Glen outbattled Jumbo Rio in a thrilling finish to win the Guinness Handicap  at 14/1.  Seamie Heffernan went head-to-toe with Fran Berry in the closing stages as they passed Flowers of Springs in the final furlong.  Heffernan managed to eek out a little more from his mount to prevail by a head and give Sarah Dawson a Galway Festival winner,

2009 Result

The well fancied Drunken Sailor was the well deserved winner of the evening feature at Galway when he held on somewhat grimly from the fast finishing Rajik to win by half a length or so. Drunken Sailor who was very well backed prior to the race was always prominent and after seeing off the John Oxx trained Aliyfa sat sail for victory and was never headed. Taralga stayed on to be third.
