Arthur Guinness EBF Fillies Handicap 2011 (7f) - Allta grinds out success for Weld

Dermot Weld notched up his tenth winner of the Galway Festival as Anam Allta battled to success in the Arthur Guinness EBF Fillies Handicap. Turning for home it was a three-way race between the market leaders, but Anam Allta found just enough under jockey Pat Smullen to grind the win by one-and-a-quarter lengths from Crystal Morning.

2009 Result

The Jim Bolger trained Slieve Mish proved to be easily the best horse in this race when comfortably seeing off some of the more favoured runners. There was not much pace early which prompted the fancied Antwaysmile to take up the running, but it was Slieve Mish who was always in the box seat and he always looked the winner rounding the final turn. In the event Anywaysmile fell away and the minor places were filled by Beauthea and Flame Of Ireland.
