Galway Bay Beginners Chase 2010 - Day Seven Race One
The last day of the 2010 Galway Festival starts with this excellent looking Beginners Steeplechase over 2m 1f, none of these runners have won a race over a Chase course so it will be a great opportunity for one or two. Dermot Weld picked up yet another winner in this race in 2009 and he will be one to watch again in 2010, his horses are always well backed in the betting and that is likely to be the case this year.
2009 Result
As expected hot favourite Bobs Pride trained by Dermot Weld and ridden by Ruby Walsh won this opener in a canter. Always going well Walsh sat behind the leaders all the way round until the final fence when he just coasted up on the outside and ran away with the race.
It was the eighth winner of the Festival for Weld proving yet again that the Master of Rosewell is also the Master of Galway.
- 1st Bobs Pride, D Weld, R Walsh, Evens Fav
- 2nd The sneezer, T Nagle, S Gray, 10/1
- 3rd Dochas Beag, D O'Brien, A Cawley, 33/1
