Galway Bay Beginners Chase 2011 (2m 1f) - 17 entered for opener
17 horses have been entered for the opening contest of day seven of the 2011 Galway Festival. Some smart performers have won this contest and used it as a stepping stone for bigger and better things, none more so than Kilmurry, who went on to compete in Graded races.

2009 Result
As expected hot favourite Bobs Pride trained by Dermot Weld and ridden by Ruby Walsh won this opener in a canter. Always going well Walsh sat behind the leaders all the way round until the final fence when he just coasted up on the outside and ran away with the race.
It was the eighth winner of the Festival for Weld proving yet again that the Master of Rosewell is also the Master of Galway.
