Ladbrokes Poker Handicap 2011 (2m) - Open look to penultimate contest
16 runners will go to post for the penultimate contest on day six of the Galway Festival and it has an ultra-competitive look to it. Formal Bid has been in brilliant form of late and certainly warrants respect, as does Pozyc who ran creditably here on Wednesday.

2009 Result
Another victory for the Ballydoyle Two year olds as Johnny Murtagh rode Mikael Glinka to a decisive win on his racecourse debut. It was Murtagh's second winner of the day for his boss, Aidan O'Brien and similarly to his earlier victory on Black Quartz, Murtagh had to ride at his brilliant best.
He found it necessary to once again settle his mount before the start and had to settle him again during the race after the two year old bumped into the rail. Notwithstanding Mikael Glinka was clearly the best horse in the race and despite a challenge from Walter De La Mare up the run in he won with something to spare. The Dermot Weld horse, Waajida, was simply not good enough and had to settle for third.
- 1st Mikael Glinka, A O'Brien, J Murtagh, 4/7 Fav
- 2nd Walter De La Mare, JJ Murphy, D Grany, 25/1
