Day Six Race Six

Dawn Juice EBF Maiden 2010 - Day Six Race Six

This is an excellent race for two year old maidens and it gives punters and experts the chance to see some potential stars of the future, in 2009 Aiden O'Brien sent out Mikael Glinka for his first appearance and he duly bolted up to take the win. He has gone onto big things as three-year old so this one will be well worth watching again in 2010.

2009 Result

Another victory for the Ballydoyle Two year olds as Johnny Murtagh rode Mikael Glinka to a decisive win on his racecourse debut. It was Murtagh's second winner of the day for his boss, Aidan O'Brien and similarly to his earlier victory on Black Quartz, Murtagh had to ride at his brilliant best.

He found it necessary to once again settle his mount before the start and had to settle him again during the race after the two year old bumped into the rail. Notwithstanding Mikael Glinka was clearly the best horse in the race and despite a challenge from Walter De La Mare up the run in he won with something to spare. The Dermot Weld horse, Waajida, was simply not good enough and had to settle for third.

  • 1st Mikael Glinka, A O'Brien, J Murtagh, 4/7 Fav
  • 2nd Walter De La Mare, JJ Murphy, D Grany, 25/1
