2009 Result

A day at Galway races would have hardly been complete without a Dermot Weld winner and his promising three year old, Precious Gem duly obliged in this final race of the day. Always kept handy, jockey Pat Smullen took up the running on the final turn and looked very comfortable when taking up the running. He was chased home by outsider Are You The One, who looks like a future winner in the making.

The Aidan O’Brien challenger, Maurice Utrillo never really got into the race and had to settle for fourth behind the third home Karma Lina

  • 1st Precious Gem, D Weld, P Smullen, 5/4 fav
  • 2nd Are You The One, P Cody, D Mullins, 25/1
  • 3rd Karma Lina, T Hogan, F Berry, 9/1
