Day Three Race Seven

The Toteracingclub Handicap 2011 (1m 100y) - Bullets fires to victory for Oliver

Andy Oliver's Dodging Bullets won the Toteracingclub Handicap by two-and-a-half lengths from Spirit of Cuba.  Sent for home with two furlongs to go, the son of Dubawi quickly fired clear for Ben Curtis and turning down the home straight had pulled four lengths clear.

Favourite Spirit of Cuba closed in the latter stages of the race, but was never going to catch the winner, who won at 5/1 in the seventh race on day three of the Galway Festival.

2009 Result

Steig carrying top weight and ridden by the very talented jockey, Gary Carroll was a very impressive winner of this race leaving the field in his wake as he rounded the final turn. He crossed the line with plenty in hand from the second, Peculiar Prince who had to battle out the minor places with a determined Lady Songbird.

Race favourite Napa Prince ran a shocker and finished at the rear of the field without ever getting in a blow.

  • 1st Steig, C Moore, G Carroll, 6/1
  • 2nd Peculiar Prince, L McAteer, B Curtis, 25/1
  • 3rd Lady Songbird, C Swan, C O’Farrell, 12/1
