Almoholek found plenty in the last furlong to overcome all the way leader, My Valley to win this stayer’s handicap in fine style and in the process providing the incredible Dermot Weld yard with their fourth winner of the meeting so far.

There had been a big gamble on the Noel Meade trained, Street Legal before the race and he went off as 3/1 favourite and although he ran well for most of the race he clearly failed to get to the trip and faded badly on the run in. Third was Le Leopard ridden by Paul Beggy

  • 1st Almolohek, D Weld, P Smullen, 11/2
  • 2nd My Valley, P Fahy, C O’Farrell, 6/1
  • 3rd Le Leopard, P Martin, P Beggy, 10/1
