Galway Festival Day 1 2012
Day one of the Galway Festival is always a hotly-anticipated one as the whole of Ireland brace themselves for a week long extravaganza.
The Guinness will be flowing and no doubt punters will be exuberant to say the least when the meeting gets underway on Monday evening. The highlight for the opening day is the Galway City Handicap which was won in 2011 by the front-running Fosters Cross.
Punters will certainly be looking for Dermot Weld runners as the Rosewell House trainer bagged a stunning 17 victories at the 2011 festival and is bound to have some leading entries on the first day of the jamboree.
