Topaz Galway Mile Handicap 2011 (1m 100y) - The View is Stunning at Galway for Weld and Smullen

Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen bagged yet another big race success at the Galway Festival as Stunning View stormed to glory in the Topaz Galway Mile. Always handy, Smullen sent the four-year-old to the front in the closing stages and he duly pulled clear from long time leader Royal Blue Star to win by two lengths.

2009 Result

The low draw made no difference as 6/1 Jt Fav Rock And Roll Kid came home in convincing style to win the Galway Mile, the feature race of the second evening at Galway. Trained by Tony Mullins and ridden by son, Danny, Rock And Roll Kid took control of the race when rounding the final turn and despite strong finishes by both Maundy Money and Bob’s Pride, he held on to win by 2 lengths.

The other joint favourite, Miranda’s Girl had every chance but the extra weight proved her undoing and she came home unplaced. English raider, Wigwam Willie was fourth
