Galway Festival Ladies Day

The fourth day at the Galway Festival 2009 not only hosts the Galway Handicap Hurdle, which by the way atracted more free bet takers than any other race on this day last year, but it is also hosts the famous Galway Festival Ladies Day. This is one of the most colourful days in all racing let alone just at Galway and is a perfect time for the Ladies to come out dressed in their finest. The ladies attract an awful lot of media coverage and the competition very often competes as the main attraction with the racing itself.

There are two principle prizes on offer, firstly for the Best Dressed Person and then for the best hat. The best dressed person wins a prize of around 3,500 Euros for a shopping spree. There are also two generous runner up prizes. There is no formal entry to the compettioin, candidates are singled out by the wandering Judges who mingle in the crowd and make their selections. It is all good fun and makes this a fantastic festival day. The ladies tend to use the Galway odds to bet on the favourites, but they too come across a huge amount of Galway Festival tips given by the well wishers and the wolf whistlers.
